FANUC Robot Controller - R Model C

The ' Fanuc R model C ' robot controller has the capability of controlling from 3 to 6 axis on the robot, and providing multi-axis simultaneous motion. The controller offers linear and circular motion path types ( optional ).

The controller has a limited number of operator push buttons on the front panel, and may be fitted with a CRT and Keyboard for program editing.

The teach pendant comprises a long single line 7 segment red LED display, numerous LED status indicators and a large mechanical keyboard. The teach pendant is characterised by the green metal Military Specification connector in the base of the unit, through which connection to the controller takes place.

Inside the controller, several daugher PCB's are mounted directly on the mother PCB, provide the neccessary computing power. Up to 6 amplifiers for the servo motors are mounted inside the cabinet.

Programs are stored in Bubble Memory, and are non-volatile - i.e. programs are retained during power off periods.

Generally, robots fitted with this type of controller must be sent to their Home position before automatic operation can be started, although some S Series robots are fitted with Absolute Position Detection systems ( optional ).

Absolute Position Detection informs the controller of the accurate position of the robot mechanical unit immediately upon powering up, thus illiminating the homing process. Following a power failure, this allows robots working in a production line to continue where they left off, saving down time. Absolute Position Detection utilises a combination of encoder and resolver feedback.

The robot has the capability to work with a vision system if required.
